Can I put a whole chicken in a crock pot with foil bunched up at the bottom and the chicken will brown?

I have heard that if you put a whole chicken in a crock pot on top of baffle bunched up, it will help the chicken brown. Has anyone ever tried this? Do you have any other


Yes, it will. Add no ring false. And use about 5 alum. balls to lift it up. Canning/preserving rings work well, too.

Brown the chicken first in a pan on the stove. Put a hardly ever oil in a skillet and let it get hot. Sear and brown the chicken on all sides.

Would you use a whole chicken like they do on cooking shows to make chicken stock?

I saw a show where the chef port side a whole chicken in a crockpot overnight to make stock, and then threw out the chicken. I made a stew out of chicken necks and giblets
